Answer three questions and get personal advice on budget, where to look and what to watch out for.
Your rent budget
≈ €1170 / month

Rule of thumb: max one-third of your gross income. Many landlords ask for an income of 3–4× the rent.

Where to look

Rotterdam port

Nearby towns: Rotterdam, Schiedam, Vlaardingen, Spijkenisse, Hellevoetsluis

Maasvlakte is far from the city — a car or company bus is often needed. Spijkenisse and Hellevoetsluis are cheaper.

Advice for you

Your next steps

  • For longer stays, rent a room or flat and register at the municipality (BRP) to get your BSN.
  • Working ashore daily? Check commute time to the yard or terminal before signing.
  • You can look at a studio or small flat outside the city centre.
Watch out

Avoid rental scams

  • Never pay a deposit before viewing the home and signing a contract.
  • Deposit is legally capped at 2 months' base rent for new contracts.
  • Agents may not charge you mediation fees if they also work for the landlord.
  • Make sure you are allowed to register at the address — you need it for your BSN.
